Home Town: I was born in Gatesville, TX, and raised in Aleman, TX (Hamilton County).

Graduated From: I graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton County, TX. I received a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State College in Stephenville, TX, a master’s from Pan American University in Edinburg, TX, and completed the colloquy program through Concordia University in Austin, TX.

Years in the Rio Grande Valley: I moved here in 1973. The Valley has been my home for 34 years.
Years at St. Paul Lutheran: I began teaching at St. Paul the bicentennial year (1975-76) and have been there ever since.

Total Years in Education: I spent four years in the public schools, so I’ve been teaching for about 36 years.Best Part About Working At St Paul Lutheran School: The best part of working at St. Paul is being able to talk to my students about Jesus. When I was offered a contract to teach a second year at St. Paul, I withdrew my teacher retirement from the state, knowing in my heart that there is nothing better than teaching in a Christian school.

Home Life Favorite Quotes/Bible Verses
Family Life: I have been married to Wilford Lucas for 40 years. We have a son, Jason, who lives in Costa Rica, and a son, Toby, who resides in Chicago.

Hobbies: I collect angels and used US postage stamps. I love it when someone gives me the used stamps off their envelopes.

What most people don't know about you: I climbed Mount Cotopaxi in Ecuador (the world’s tallest active volcano) up to the way station (15, 925 feet) in 2006.
The Bible verse that I cling to the most is “I trust in You O Lord; I say You are my God”. It is my standard prayer when I’m taking off or landing in an airplane.

I have visited all 50 of the states in the USA. Although there was something great in all of them, I found Texas to be the best.

My husband and I enjoy dancing the polka, two-step, and waltz; we find that it is the most enjoyable way to exercise.
Trust in the Lord with all your might. Always try your best.
